While Wright has lived a lot of life in her first 67 years, the Middleton resident is ready to write her next chapter, starting with a stint on ABC’s dating show spinoff.
Renee Halvorson Wright is one of 22 ladies between ages 60 and 75 competing for the heart of 71-year-old Indiana-native Gerry Turner on the inaugural season of “The Golden Bachelor,” a spinoff of the long-running “Bachelor” franchise.
Here are three reasons we think Gerry and Renee make the perfect pair:
They’re both Chicago sports fans.
A former NFL cheerleader, Wright was a member of the Chicago Honey Bears squad from 1977 to 1985. As fate would have it, the “Golden Bachelor” is a Bears fan, too.
They enjoy the lake life.
While in Madison, Wright enjoys taking walks along Lake Mendota. Coincidentally, Turner lives on a lake.
They both put family first.
Wright’s show bio describes her as a “caring mother and grandmother, who enjoys spending time with her kids, grandkids, and cat.” Meanwhile, Turner is called a “doting father and grandfather,” who’s often busy spending time with his family.
Watch Wright’s Journey: “The Golden Bachelor” premieres Thursday, Sept. 28 on ABC.
