The Republican-controlled Wisconsin Senate voted to override nine vetoes by Democratic Gov. Tony Evers, including $125 million in grants for PFAS pollution, gray wolf population goals, and a post-election audit.
Senate Minority Leader Dianne Hesselbein said the performative session was “the last gasps of a desperate Republican caucus-more interested in ducking responsibility for a do-nothing session than doing any good on their last day.”
In addition, disagreements persist between Evers and Republicans over the best way to allocate $15 million for health care following hospital closures in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls.
