Video: GOP blocks Dem election reform bills as ‘dangerous.’ Really?

The clock is ticking on what little remains of the Wisconsin Legislature’s session before Republicans close the doors for the rest of 2026 — and it seems they plan to start a 9-month paid vacation without giving Democrats the courtesy of a public hearing to consider bills that would make election participation easier and safer for qualified voters.

The bills include one that would let absentee ballots be processed the day before Election Day, which Republicans say they favor but won’t put up for a vote. Without that early processing, election results often aren’t known until the middle of the night, giving fodder to conspiracy theorists even though the votes have always been audited as accurate.
