Video: New figures show the drop in health insurance after GOP inaction

The latest figures on health insurance coverage are out and, as expected, they show a surge in the number of people in Wisconsin who haven’t purchased insurance on the Affordable Care Act health exchange now that Republicans in Congress have allowed enhanced premium credits to expire.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services says 22,000 fewer people in Wisconsin signed up for health insurance compared to this time last year. While some of those may have found health insurance coverage through their jobs, many others are simply taking a chance — and small business owners don’t like the increased instability of a workforce that isn’t covered thanks to sharply higher premiums. They want the US Senate to pass a House bill renewing that health insurance assistance for three years.
